New Project - Plants

For the last year I have not been able to go for my normal walks and hikes around the beautiful countryside of North Wales as I am suffering from terrible pains in my feet. According to the experts I have manged to get myself a bad case of Achilles Tendinitis in both feet, which makes walking rather painful. That means that my photography projects will have to change, away from my normal landscape and nature shots.

Last year Paul Coughlin done a talk in our Photography Club and I was more then just impressed by his shots. Not surprising if you take a look at his credentials....  https://www.facebook.com/pages/Paul-Coghlin-Fine-Art-Photography/300282254754 . I especially liked his monochrome flower shots and although I would never be able to re-create such beauty I thought I take his shot for inspiration to do some flower shots of my own. My first attempts were to based on Mr Coughlin's monochrome shots.

Although I really do like them I then tried to process the images so that I could keep the colors of the flowers but still retain the black background as that was what attracted me to the images in the first place.

I found that some of the images really suited the monochrome conversion while others, such as the oriental lilliy the colored version is just as nice.

I am planning to create around 30 images of this kind, each with a different plant. I am just not sure as yet if I should keep them monochrome as it was planned to start with, or if I should do some of them in color. This project is the suppose to be the start to furnish another exhibition at the end of the year and I would like to find out what would please people more.... monochrome, color or a bit of both. Feedback would be very much appreciated. xx
