Resolutions and a New Year

Last year I had the plan of doing a blog at least once a month to outline my travels and my photography, but personal matters had taken over by the end of the year and not much travel or photography had taken place. So I never saw really had anything to blog about. But with the new year started I decided to renew my efforts of outlining my adventures, especially as the camper van is now fixed and ready to take me on said adventures. However, the scoobymobile now has been renamed to Velma. Much shorter, not as confusing as scoobymobile considering my dog is already called scooby and overall I thought the camper had to be a female. Although, I never met a female as temperamental as this one ( including myself lol). So, in short, one of my new year resolutions was the revival of my blog.

It is already the end of January and since the start of the new year I already had two trips out with Velma and my dog Scooby. The first trip at the beginning of the month consisted of two separate stopovers. The first was to Penmaenpool, near Dogellau in North Wales, Uk. Penmaenpool only consist of a couple of houses but the real interest on the place is the Toll Bridge going over the Mawddach Estuary towards Barmouth ( see below ).

The second stop of the same trip was at Fairbourne. Fairbourne is famous for its miniature railway that runs during the summer month. While I was there it was however closed, which was  a bit of a shame. But the views really made up for it. Here are some shots taken by my little Fuji-Finepix camera. The images are straight from the camera and if you want to see some other ones, a bit more arty then I suggest you visit my Deviant Art page.

My second trip of the year took me a bit further down the coast, to a small place called Aberdovey. I saw some images of Aberdovey a while back and decided to take a look for myself. My first stop was just outside Aberdovey, in a small layby by the road.

A small walk across a golf course and I was on a lovely long beach, which I walked along to find a nice foreground interest for some shots. Failing to find that Scooby had to do the honours and be my model.

I quickly tried other shots……

A gangway down to the beach did quite nicely to give some foreground interest, but how many shots can one do from the same location and same object. I gave up after a few shots. Besides, it was getting dark and I wanted to get back to the camper before hand, worried about loosing the path across the golf course.

I spent a lovely night in the layby and was looking forward to the next morning and my long walk along the beach with Scooby Do. Some of the images I have taken in the morning you can see on my Deviant Art page.

After the walk on the beach I drove onto Aberdovey itself. I parked in the main car park along the beach. I took a walk around the village and found a pathway leading up towards the coastal path. I took that to see what shots I would get from the top and some I actually really liked.

Although I quite liked Aberdovey and it was a lovely small town I think a visit in the summer would be nicer and more productive in regards to photography. Not only were most of the shops there closed for the winter but I think the colors all around would be nicer to photograph as well. So a return visit is in the planning at a warmer time of year.

I really liked my two trips away and I learned a lot about myself during my time. Despite of not having gone far from home the seclusion of living in the camper for a few days at a time has a very de-stressing effect on me. I am really looking forward to my next shot trip away. xxx
